Sketching out another character here.
Casper Mitty is a guy with big ideas, but little capacity to bring them to fruition. He’ll start out with something simple, and then throw in layer after layer of complexity until it has the characteristics of a Rube Goldberg contraption.
Casper makes his way through the world with a lot of bluster. Given the opportunity he will always exaggerate his accomplishments.
Casper also exaggerates the reasons for his failures, although when called on it he is willing to (sheepishly) admit to what actually happened.
Although Casper is full of bluster, he is truly brave. At his core he knows he is not as smart, strong, or capable as he claims, yet he is willing to take on larger-than-life foes in order to protect others. This wins him the loyalty of his friends, who forgive him his foolishness.
In addition his big ideas can sometimes be refined by others into real solutions.
Casper Mitty is in the very early stages of development. I’m starting with a mix of Arnold Horshack and Juan Epstein, throwing in some Barney Fife, and Ensign Charles Parker, and adding a dash of Pinky and the Brain. And of course Walter Mitty is in the mix.
It will be interesting to see how the character develops, don’t ya think?
